This was the native place of Dr. Joseph Hudson, principal of St. Mary Hall, in Oxford, a learned critic, who published editions of Velleius Paterculus, Thucydides, Dionysius Halicarnasseus, Longinus, &c. He was born in 1662, and died in 1719.
