Year 7 Hana-Ines Slater is performing as one of the ‘singing children’ in the chorus of Diane Paulus’s production of Carmen at Glyndebourne until the 24th of August. Hana-Ines has been part of the Glyndebourne Youth Opera for two years.

Over the past few weeks Andrew Doe, teacher of Classics and Latin at Burgess Hill Girls, and a team of Lower Sixth Latin and Classical Civilisation students ventured out to Manor Field Primary School to deliver taster lessons to Year 5 students, introducing them to the study of Latin and life in Roman Britain.
Hace 4 días · Latin has always been popular at Burgess Hill Girls and through working with local primary schools it is aiming to spread this love. The taster lessons with Manor Field were the first collaboration. In the lessons Year 5 pupils learnt how to introduce themselves, the difference between masculine and feminine endings, and adjective agreements.

Hace 5 días · Burgess Hill Girls student Hana-Ines Slater, age eleven, has been part of the Glyndebourne Youth Opera for two years. Having attended the two-day audition process in January 2024, Hana-Ines and eleven other performers were selected from over one hundred to be the ‘singing children’ for production.
