A lot of Joni’s songs contain these brief moments that make me involuntarily well up with tears. This song has one of those moments “and we’ll laugh and toast to nothing and smash our empty bottles down, let’s have a round for these freaks and these soldiers, a round for these friends of mine”- something about that part just chokes me up every time.
