Among the city’s cultural venues are Curve Theatre (opened 2008) and De Montfort Hall. Area 28 square miles (73 square km). Pop. (2001) 279,921; (2011) 329,839.

Henry Everett, the surviving trustee of Cook's school, gave his permission for Cook's building to be used, and Harris's trustees agreed to contribute £12 10 s . a year towards its maintenance.
