The Doors began with a chance meeting between acquaintances Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek on Venice Beach in July 1965. They recognized each other as they had both attended the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.

Founder Michael Brown left the band before their second album (The Left Banke Too-featuring "There's Gonna Be A Storm,"), going on to involvement in other influential groups including Montage, Stories, and The Beckies.
