Hace 2 días · “Blue in Green” was first recorded on March 17, 1959 by trumpeter Miles Davis, pianist Bill Evans, drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonist John Coltrane. It is the third track, as well as one of two ballads, on Davis’ Kind of Blue , released by Columbia Records on August 17, 1959.

Heck, Miles was the youngest member of the famed Billy Eckstine big band way back in 1944, alongside Fats Navarro, Dizzy Gilliespie, Dexter Gordon, Bird and many more greats. Meanwhile Max Roach also played on all those seminal bebop recordings as the drummer in Bird's quintet in the 1940s, and alongside Kenny Clarke he is considered the key drummer of the bebop revolution.
