27 de jun. de 2024 · Song of the Day: Art Tatum, “Tea for Two”. Art Tatum was born on this day in 1909. He was born partially blind and by age four, had lost most of his sight. This did not hinder his enormous musical talents. By age 13, he picked up piano and would become one of its greatest interpreters.
Hace 5 días · 油井正一氏編集によるアート・テイタムのピアノソロ傑作集。 1934年8月から40年7月までの5回の録音から、計16曲が収納されている。 油井氏のライナーノーツ（1983年3月14日付け）には、テイタムのエピソードがいろいろと紹介されていて面白い。 その中の一つ。 「テイタムはクラブにゆくとまずピアノの前にすわり、88の鍵盤をサーッと弾いて、狂っているキーを頭に入れてしまい、本番の時にはそれらのキーを使わなくすむキーに移調してすべての曲を弾いた、という話には驚くが、クラブに備え付けてあるピアノがおしなべてひどい調律であることを知っていると、この話は信用できる」。 このアルバムを聴きながら、そんなエピソードを読むと妙に納得してしまうのだ。
