It has a bunch of afro and neo-soul vibes in there, composed mostly by two of my beloved producers (J Dilla and Dj Premier), all produced by Questlove. “Dooinit”, “Funk For You”, and “The 6th Sense” are my favourite songs from the album, but the whole thing plays incredibly from the beginning up to the outro recited by Common’s father.
one of the only photos of them as far as i know. taken from a snippet of a piece of footage floating around in various documentaries (still shining, and the interviews on mass appeal’s page for the diary album). q-tip (on the left) dilla (in the middle) and talib kweli (on the right). seems to be around late 90s-2000 because this is during the LWFC sessions and thus during the soulquarians era.
