Hace 1 día · Schumacher, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve all crashed coming out of the final corner – as well as BAR driver Ricardo Zonta. The wall they all hit was thus christened the ‘Wall of Champions’ and has since also ended Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button’s races at future Grand Prix.
Hace 3 días · After a string of disappointing results in 2003, Jacques Villeneuve elected to end his season one race early, and was replaced at BAR by test driver Takuma Sato for the Japanese Grand Prix. Villeneuve would later drive for Renault in 2004 as a replacement driver, and sign a multi-year contract at Sauber for 2005 (though he was replaced in 2006).

Two former Sauber drivers drove for the new BMW Sauber team in 2006: Nick Heidfeld who was a Sauber driver from 2001 to 2003, and Villeneuve who drove for the team in 2005.
