Youngsters enjoyed a fun-packed start to proceedings with a special assembly, with lab-coated experts from Mad Science, which featured hair-raising experiments using a Van de Graaff generator.

They have reached the finals of the competition, which take place at Cambridge University in July, after winning the Spanish and French categories respectively in the regional finals at Cambourne Village College.
