Drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen and guitarist Brian Waddell began writing music together while still members of their prior band, the Devin Townsend project. In 2018, they recruited vocalist Jon Howard, guitarist Kai Huppunen, and bassist Scott Weiland to complete the outfit.
