Man spürt so richtig, dass Joni sich mit dem Inhalt der Songs, die sie singt stark auseinandersetzt und es ist beruhigend zu wissen, dass sie sich nicht hinter irgendeinem Klischee verbirgt, sondern die Suche ernsthaft betreibt.

This review of Hejira from 1977 . Was looking up reviews on Hejira from when it came out in jonimitchell.com and then I came across this one from the village voice. It’s the most pretentious ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. The picture of the author is exactly how you’d picture him, too, imho.
