When my wife and I visited there in 2014, our tour guide told us that it was scarcely as large as the parking lot of the Church of the Annunciation there. But it’s been excavated to the time of Jesus.

4 de ene. de 2022 · In John 1:46, Nathanael asks the question, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” At first, it seems like an odd question, but it reveals much about the Jewish view of both the town of Nazareth and the region of Galilee. Starting in John 1:35, Jesus begins calling His first disciples, including Nathanael.
4 de ene. de 2022 · The town’s insignificance is evident in the first chapter of John’s Gospel, when Nathaniel asks, “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” (John 1:46). Laying aside the problems with the argument from silence, we should also note that the claim that there is no first-century evidence for Nazareth is not entirely correct.
The earliest archaeological discoveries were made at the convent in the 1880s, but despite over 80 years of subsequent excavation, the site was almost entirely unpublished until 2006 when the Nazareth Archaeological Project re-examined it. There are several first-century phases of activity at the Sisters of Nazareth convent.
