Allegedly, there was/is a deleted scene where Cain finds out that Angie was, uh, "involved" with the kid. He was ordered to eliminate everyone in exchange for the Nuke. He blamed her for his death/mechanical rebirth. Faxx had promised Kane Nuke if he obeyed, and clearly had a need/use for Kane in his new cyberbody.
