The band was formed by Jamie James in 1979, and with Michael Rummans and Rex Roberts, James helped return rockabilly to the pop landscape. The King Bees were an American New York -based rhythm and blues musical group of the 1960s. [1] The King Bees were formed around 1964, and consisted of Danny Kortchmar (credited as Danny Kootch) ( guitar ), Joel O'Brien ( drums ), Dickie Frank ( bass) and John McDuffy (vocals and organ ). [1] They released three singles on RCA Records.
The King Bees have toured and recorded with Carey Bell, Jerry McCain, Nappy Brown and many other lions and legends. They collaborated with Rock n' Roll Hall-of-Fame member Bo Diddley and were featured on The B.B. King Birthday Tour. The King Bees have shared the bill with Dr. John, Buddy Guy, James Brown, Leon Russell and a host of other legends.
