Michel Foucault (født 15. oktober 1926 i Poitiers, død 25. juni 1984 i Paris) var en fransk filosof og idéhistoriker.Han var professor ved Collège de France i "Tankesystemernes Historie", som var en form for idehistorie.Foucault er bedst kendt for sine studier af sociale institutioner, bl.a. psykiatri, politiet, humanvidenskaberne og fængselssystemet, såvel som sit arbejde vedr.
