Returning home from World War I, Capt. Stephen Sorrell (Richard Pasco) finds his marriage crumbling in this epic British miniseries based on Warwick Deeping's best-selling novel. After Sorrell's wife leaves him, he labors at a series of menial jobs to provide security and a better future for his son (played by Paul Critchley as a boy and Peter Chelsom as a young man).

4 de mar. de 2008 · This is a great 6-part mini series. It made a powerful impact on me when I first watched it on TV in the 80-s. It's very refreshing to see a father who decides that his great investment in life is his son. Sorrell Sr. had a normal family when he went to war (WW1) yet upon his return, problems started to appear, some due to him being wounded.

Sorrell and Son is a British television miniseries which aired on ITV in six, hour-long episodes from 6 to 11 July 1984. The story is taken from the 1925 novel of the same name by Warwick Deeping. The story was previously filmed as a silent film in 1927 and again in 1934.
