Biografia. Pio La Torre nasce a Palermo, il 24 dicembre 1927. Cresciuto insieme a cinque fratelli in una famiglia contadina, matura precocemente il proprio interesse per le lotte sociali ed aderisce fin dalla giovane età alle lotte dei braccianti siciliani per il diritto alla coltivazione delle terre.
