Tico Torres, born in New York in 1953 is best known for being a percussionist, drummer, and songwriter for Bon Jovi. He began playing guitar at age five, but he aspired to be a disc jockey. However, life had different plans for him. One night Cold Sweat—an R&B band Tico used to hang out with—was going to perform on a TV show called Hullabaloo.

Around the age of 14, Torres took his first seat behind the drums in '67 (via Sound Royalties).Playing in a bunch of local bands in the late '70s and early '80s, Torres joined Bon Jovi in 1983 by way of an introduction through Bon Jovi bassist Alec John Such (via Modern Drummer).
