Tânia Maria was born in São Luís do Maranhão, Brazil in 1948. She is considered to have a perfect notion of rhythm and balance of music combining an original blend of Brazilian music with jazz and funk. She moved to Paris in 1974 and then to New York in 1981, returning to Paris again after some years.

Tânia Maria Pereira Ribeiro (born 10 March 1974), commonly known as Tânia Maria, Tânia Maranhão or simply Tânia, is a Brazilian former footballer. She played as a defender for Brazil's Saad EC, and is a member of the Brazilian National Team, for which she won a silver medal at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics.
