Simon Nicol (born 13 October 1950) is an English guitarist, singer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He was a founding member of Fairport Convention and is the only founding member still in the band. He has also been involved with the various Albion Band(s) and a wide range of musical projects, both as a collaborator, producer and as a solo artist.
When Fairport Convention tentatively formed in the house of guitarist and vocalist Simon Nicol in 1967, it may have seemed inconceivable to them that in 2005 the band would still be going strong after 38 years of success, tragedy and wonderful music.
