About Angela Bofill Born in Brooklyn in 1954, the Latina singer Angela Bofill began her musical career as a vocalist with the Dance Theatre of Harlem Chorus. Her 1978 solo debut, ANGIE, was a highly listenable blend of jazz and R&B, a style she was to pursue with much commercial success throughout the 1980s.
