George R.R. Martin, właśc. George Raymond Richard Martin (ur. 20 września 1948 w Bayonne w stanie New Jersey) – amerykański pisarz, twórca science fiction, fantasy i horrorów, zarówno opowiadań, jak i powieści, wielokrotny zdobywca nagród Nebula i Hugo oraz wielu innych: World Fantasy, Bram Stoker Award, czy Locus Award.
Biografie. George Martin se od dětství zajímal o hudbu, naučil se hrál na klavír.V šestnácti letech hrával po tanečních klubech. Po studiu v hudební škole se naučil hrát i na hoboj.Po II. druhé světové válce, kdy sloužil jako poručík u námořnictva pracoval v hudebním archívu rozhlasové stanice BBC, občas zastával pozici hlasatele.
