Geschichte. Entstanden ist A Perfect Circle in Los Angeles als Nebenprojekt von Tool-Sänger Maynard James Keenan und dem ehemaligen Gitarren-Techniker der Band Tool, Billy Howerdel. Geboren wurde die Idee bereits 1996, als die Aufnahmen für das Tool-Album Ænima abgeschlossen waren, allerdings die gebuchte Studiozeit noch nicht ausgeschöpft war.
