Latin Quarter wurde im August 1983 von Steve Skaith und Mike Jones, beide zuvor Mitglieder einer Menschenrechtsorganisation, sowie Richard Wright gegründet. Skaith war Sänger und Gitarrist, Wright spielte ebenfalls Gitarre. Jones war „nur“ Texter, galt aber, ohne ein Instrument zu spielen oder zu singen, stets als festes Mitglied der Gruppe.
Latin Quarter is a British band formed in 1983. They had one top 20 single "Radio Africa" in the United Kingdom. From the beginning they became more successful in Germany. Latin Quarter released their latest album, Releasing the Sheep, on 29 October 2021. Their sound mixes elements of pop, rock, reggae and folk with largely political based lyrics.
History. The area was named "Quartier Latin" during the Middle Ages, when the students of the University La Sorbonne, inhabitants of this neighborhood, used Latin as the language of study. Since the Middle Ages and up to the present day, students living in the Latin Quarter have had a huge influence on the rest of the city.
