Academy Award-winning composer best known for writing the music to Fame, the 1980 film classic starring Irene Cara (Movie Actress). He and lyricist Dean Pitchford won the 1981 Oscar for Best Original Song.
Michael Gore. American composer, producer and pianist, born March 5, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He was appointed A&R producer for CBS Records (UK) in 1974. Previously worked as staff writer for Screen Gems-Columbia . Along with lyricist Dean Pitchford he won an Oscar in 1980 for Best Original Song for "Fame" from the film of the same title.
Release and singles. The motion picture soundtrack album for Fame was released in the U.S. on May 16, 1980, by RSO Records. It features nine songs, all of which appear in various scenes in the film.
