C'est l'un des trois membres fondateurs (avec Jock Lewes et David Stirling ) du Special Air Service (SAS) pendant la Seconde guerre mondiale , après laquelle il suit une carrière d'avocat.

  5. Lieutenant Colonel Robert Blair “Paddy” Mayne died in 1955. The cause was a car accident in his hometown of Newtownards in Co. Down. He is buried in the nearby Movilla Abbey Cemetery. Colonel Paddy, the nickname given to ferocious SAS co-founder Robert Blair Mayne, lives on in military legend. His actions with the SAS were truly heroic.

  6. 31 de oct. de 2022 · Paddy Mayne is buried in the Mayne Family burial plot at Movilla Cemetery, Newtownards. His funeral funeral drew hundreds of mourners to pay their respects. Following his death his masonic jewel was kept by an old schoolfriend before being given to Newtownards Borough Council - it is now displayed in the Mayoral Chamber of the Council Offices.
