Nostalghia.com is meant as a tribute to Andrei Tarkovsky, arguably one of the most significant filmmakers of the 20th century. This non-commercial site is aimed at Andrei Tarkovsky scholars and other interested parties. The site was initially launched on August 1, 2001. The Russian poet Andrei Gorchakov travels through Italy accompanied by his guide and translator as he researches the life of an 18th Century Russian composer, Pavel Sosnovsky.

Even though it involves Italian locations, the soul of the film is Russian. The protagonist of the film Andrei neither is able to concentrate on his research work nor can enjoy his stay in the hilly Tuscan countryside of Italy.
