When I discovered Mr. Fish I knew I had found a unique subject for a film. In documentaries character is often what drives the best films and in Mr. Fish I have discovered an eccentric prodigy, a deviant mind, a driven contrarian, and an outrageous talent famous for his sardonic wit. In short he is a gold mine documentary subject.

7 de dic. de 2018 · The person I most connected with for most of Mr. Fish: Cartooning From the Deep End was not the artist, railing against the man, but his wife, Diana Day, sweating their debt, working the job that gets them and their twin daughters health insurance, doing the dirty work that enables him to stand on his principles.
Fish: Cartooning from the Deep End shows the artist during a turning point in his life, with it being difficult for him to finding steady work with his cartoons. In many ways, this film is about the return of the starving artist, who now has to struggle for his work to be seen and this is a documentary I definitely recommend seeing.
