The Dukes of Stratosphear were an English rock band formed in 1984 by Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding, Dave Gregory, and Ian Gregory. Modelled after psychedelic pop groups from the 1960s, the Dukes were initially publicised by Virgin Records as a mysterious new act, but were actually an XTC spin-off band. They recorded only two albums: 25 O'Clock and Psonic Psunspot.
The Dukes of Stratosphear was a pseudonym used by the English rock band XTC in the mid-1980s. A studio-only project, the band released two vinyl albums: 25 O'Clock (1985) and Psonic Psunspot (1987), which drew upon influences of 1960s psychedelic music such as The Beatles, Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd, The Kinks, The Byrds, The Pretty Things, and The Beach Boys (c. 1966).
The reissue has a barcode, seen here 25 O'Clock In the runout matrix data for variant 1 but others are equivalent too: - on side A, "WOW 1 A-1U-1- 1 1 <" is stamped (and the last "1" in this string is also sideways relative to the other characters), all other characters are hand-etched
