Like the Chris Gaffney tribute album Man Of Somebody’s Dreams Loser’s Paradise just has too many country songs. Just like the Tribute album for Gaffney (who died in 2008) Dave Alvin of Blasters fame had a large hand in producing and playing on Losers Paradise.
His next solo album, Loser's Paradise, (1995) was produced by Gaffney's friend Dave Alvin and featured contributions from Lucinda Williams and Jim Lauderdale. In 2002, Gaffney formed the band Hacienda Brothers with guitarist and songwriter Dave Gonzalez, founding member of The Paladins.
I took Losers Paradise to a local record exchange store and they wouldn’t take it: Chris Gaffney too obscure. I honestly laughed, ‘yep, just about explains Chris Gaffney’s career.’ I do still have The Man Of Somebody’s Dreams Tribute album that contains a wide variety of performers from Los Straitjackets, Los Lobos, and of course, Dave Alvin, and The Iguanas (amongst others).
