Lady Margaret Hall. LMH is one of the larger and (of course) best colleges. Founded in 1878, it was the first women’s college and also the first to go mixed. This inclusive spirit is still very much a defining feature of LMH. The college is incredibly proud of these roots, as well as the welcoming atmosphere that makes LMH so loved.

Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) is a pioneering Oxford University college. It was founded in 1879 with a dual passion for learning and equality, making it possible for the first time for women to study at Oxford. We admitted men in 1979 and, in 2016, became the first Oxbridge college to establish a Foundation Year for under-represented students.
Lady Margaret Hall has a thriving graduate community, welcoming students from all over the world.
