25 de feb. de 1994 · Dinah Shore, a vivacious entertainer who was widely loved for her homey, heartfelt singing and breezy Southern charm, died yesterday at her home in Beverly Hills, Calif. She was 76.
Dinah Shore, the quintessential American girl, was both America’s sweetheart in the 1940s and 1950s and a leading example of an independent woman in the 1970s. Her career as a singer and actress spanned over forty years and included stints on the radio and in the movies. Shore won nine Emmys, a Peabody, and a Golden Globe.
Golf. Dinah Shore, die auch selbst Golf spielte, war eine langjährige Förderin des professionellen Frauen-Golfs. Im Jahre 1972 war sie Mitbegründerin des Colgate Dinah Shore Golf-Turniers, das heute unter dem Namen Kraft Nabisco Championship ausgetragen wird. Es ist eines der vier Major Golfturniere für Frauen auf der LPGA Tour.
Childhood & Early Life. Dinah Shore was born as Fannye Rose Shore on February 29, 1916 in Winchester, Tennessee, USA, to Solomon and Anna Shore. At the age of two, she was diagnosed with polio. After intensive care and following a course of rigorous exercises, she recovered. However, she sustained a deformed foot.
