  1. A Nomad of the Time Streams is a compilation volume of Michael Moorcock's early steampunk trilogy, begun in 1971 with The Warlord of the Air and continued by its 1974 and 1981 sequels, The Land Leviathan and The Steel Tsar. The trilogy follows the adventures of Edwardian-era British Army Captain Oswald Bastable in alternate versions of the 20th century.

  2. 26 de oct. de 1989 · This is the story of Oswald Bastable, a Victorian captain who found himself in such alternate worlds. It is based on notes handed down to Michael Moorcock from his great-grandfather. It's a story of a world of empires secured by airships, and a Chinese genius who invented the means of overthrowing the West's power! Book 1 of 3.

  3. 1 de ene. de 1971 · Warlord of the Air is a basic, no nonsense sci-fi story that, while now a bit dated in the premises, still makes for a good tale. Time travel, airships, good guys, bad guys, revolutionaries and the inimitable Brits makes for the basis of a good Netflix movie.

  5. 19 de jun. de 2009 · The Gatehouse cites Michael Moorcock’s Warlord of the Air as “proto-steampunk,” a useful term for the neo-Victorian speculative fictions pre-dating Jeter, Blaylock, and Powers. Given its publication date of 1971, I’ve wondered how much of an impact this first installment of the Nomad of the Time Streams trilogy might have had on the emergence of steampunk in the 1980s.

  6. 2 de abr. de 2024 · Like the latter work, The Warlord of the Air is clearly inspired by a lot of Science Fiction and Boy’s Own adventure stories of the turn of the 20th Century. Both postulate semi-fanciful alternate timelines and populate them with various famous figures, remixed into somewhat satirized versions of themselves.
