At first Portrait seems about as uneven as the Walker Brothers' debut. Scott's songwriting isn't quite there yet, there's nothing written by him that's as good as You're All Around Me. It's otherwise a very consistent LP since there's no filler. Two standouts are the melodramatic In My Room and their unique off-key take on Summertime.
