On this EP I found the beats to be very average for the alchemist standards, and the features were lackluster. Up until this point I've always found it kinda cool when Al raps on a track, but on this EP I thought his rapping was very mediocre.
One of Alchemist's best strengths on a release like Flying High is the element of variety he brings within his pretty specific lane of drumless style hip-hop. He pulls off a great mix of veterans vs younger guys, abstract vs gangsta and unknown vs relatively famous (that's a big relatively since ultimately no one on this release is broadly well-known), and somehow it all works pretty well with ...
