10 de may. de 2007 · Oh Perilous World is the sixth release by Rasputina, a singularly inventive outfit led by Melora Creager. A cellist herself, she creates a frontline of multiple cellos. Eschewing the faux-classical shenanigans of the Electric Light Orchestra, she welds the instruments with sensibilities that evoke everyone from Van Dyke Parks to Tom Waits.
For “Oh Perilous World,” her new album with chamber-rock band Rasputina, cellist/singer Melora Creager found inspiration by obsessively reading daily news on the Internet. She compiled a notebook of words, phrases and stories and then used it to cull material for lyrics.

I had to disagree then, and OH PERILOUS WORLD is my counter argument. What the world needs now is a sharp, well-thought-out, diplomatic, but overwhelmingly powerful statement against the perilous perch we are very nearly dangling over. Thank you, Rasputina. This is an album w/ convictions and it's an album that forces you to think, not just listen.
