The Sea Ranch served as a deeply inspirational and continuous place of return for Halprin. A planned unincorporated community located 120 miles north of San Francisco, Sea Ranch, along with the surrounding area of the Northern California coastal landscape, had become an intimate part of Halprin’s life even before he was professionally involved with its settlement.
