Back in the Day: The Best of Bootsy is a 1994 greatest hits compilation by Parliament-Funkadelic bassist Bootsy Collins. The album was released on the Warner Bros. Archives label. The album compiles all of the hit singles produced and performed by Bootsy Collins during the years 1976 to 1982, with the exception of the singles released from the album The One Giveth, the Count Taketh Away .
Bootsy's second album is widely considered his best: the Motherpage gives it five-star ratings. Similar to most of Bootsy's other work, it is divided between dance tracks and slow jams. The song "The Pinocchio Theory" inspired the George Clinton creation Sir Nose D'voidoffunk (see P-Funk mythology: the song says if you fake the funk, your nose will grow, and Sir Nose fakes the funk).

William Earl "Bootsy" Collins (born October 26, 1951) is an American bass guitarist, singer-songwriter, and record producer. [1] Rising to prominence with James Brown in the early 1970s before joining the Parliament-Funkadelic collective, Collins established himself as one of the leading names and innovators in funk with his driving basslines and humorous vocals.
