The Residents' 'Commercial Album' is a 1980 experiment, ahead of its time in many ways, where every track was designed to run for a whole minute with a few seconds to spare, to emulate the feel and style of a commercial. Fast moving, no nonsense, quirky music, with little verses, to complement the surreal sounds is the order of the day.

Das Album orientiert sich an Frühwerken der Residents wie Duck Stab und The Commercial Album. 2013 tourten die Residents in Dreierbesetzung bestehend aus Charles „Chuck“ Bobuck (keyb) (wohl identisch mit Hardy Fox), Randy Rose (voc) (wohl identisch mit Homer Flynn alias Mr. Skull) und Bob (g) durch die USA und Europa.
