Church of Misery. Vol 1 was supposed to be Church of Misery 's first album. When the band decided that they wanted to stick to writing solely about real-life serial killers and murderers, they abandoned it, but a bootleg of the album was made in 1997. It was not officially released until a decade later in 2007. "We hate trend.
10 de jul. de 2023 · This iteration of the band finds Kazuhiro Asaeda back on the mic for the first time since the band’s mid-90’s origins, and his nasty, hoarse croon has a sardonic mania befitting the serial killer motif. Despite how barebones the sound is on the surface, there’s a good amount of variety between the 7 tracks.
1 de jun. de 2023 · Making the occasion even more special is the return of original vocalist Kazuhiro Asaeda, who fronted Church of Misery on their earliest demos and last made an appearance on 2007’s VOL. 1. Of the plentiful contenders who’ve fronted the band over the last 28 years, there’s a swooning charisma to Asaeda’s raspy crooning that compliments the tunes accordingly and simply put, just feels right.

23 de jun. de 2023 · This collection brings back vocalist Kazuhiro Asaeda, who sang on Church of Misery‘s 2003 split with Acrimony, the recorded-in-1996-released-in-2007 Vol. 1 (reissue review here), and who featured on the 2022 offering Me and My Bell Bottom Blues (review here) from Tatsu‘s Sonic Flower side-project last year.
Acrimony / Church of Misery is a split album by the Welsh doom metal band Acrimony and the Japanese doom metal band Church of Misery.
