After meeting her mother, Hae-Won feels depressed and decides to meet Sung-Joon for the first time in a long while. On that day, Hae-Won and Sung-Joon happen to meet students at a restaurant who study the same major, and their relationship becomes known to others.
In Nobody's Daughter Haewon, Haewon drifts in and out of dreams and has a series of encounters: with a professor who teaches in America and knows Martin Scorsese, with a friend locked in a long-term relationship with a married man, with a famous French actress. She tries to find a path forward, but echoes of her recent past are all around her.
Nobody's Daughter Haewon is also not the most clear and simple of Hong's movies, with a rather random structure that flickers between dreams and reality. It is also narrated, which is slightly novel for Hong. Nobody's Daughter Haewon is very far from my favourite Hong Sang-soo movie, but like always I find it a moving work that calms the soul.
