Emergency! is the debut double album by the American jazz fusion group The Tony Williams Lifetime featuring Williams with guitarist John McLaughlin and organist Larry Young.It was recorded and released in 1969 and was one of the first significant fusion recordings. The album is commonly regarded as an influential album in the jazz, rock, and fusion genres.
That being said, the sound quality is surprisingly good, with separation between instruments, and the feel of a soundboard recording as the mix feels balanced, properly EQ'ed, etc. I'm quite happy I was able to snag this, as a massive Williams/Lifetime/fusion enthusiast. Surely a rarity, & a most welcome addition to me shelves.
Tony Williams formed Lifetime after leaving the Miles Davis Group in 1969, around the time In A Silent Way was finished. Geschichte. Die Tony Williams Lifetime wurde 1969 als Trio mit John McLaughlin (E-Gitarre) und Larry Young (aka Khalid Yasin) (Orgel) gegründet. Ihr Debütalbum hieß Emergency!, ein Doppelalbum, das bei auf Polydor / PolyGram Records im Jahr 1969 veröffentlicht wurde. Von der Jazzkritik und den -hörern wurde es wegen seiner Rock-Einflüsse zum Zeitpunkt seiner Veröffentlichung abgelehnt.
