Over a three-hour lunch at a local restaurant with his band's framed album covers on the wall, Heidorn talks as fast as he drummed for the band.

  5. There's always the theorizing that Uncle Tupelo might've been able to stay together if Heidorn had never left, since he functioned as the affable glue that held two tempestuous artists together. But heck, he wasn't able to keep the original line-up of Son Volt together once Farrar and the Boquist brothers got to loggerheads, so I suspect Tupelo was doomed whether Mike stuck around or not.
