'Intercourse' sounds like a concept sunshine/baroque pop album originally composed in 1968, a year of many great albums but also the year following the one in which The Beach Boys/Brian Wilson's 'Smile' was NOT released, just like 'Intercourse' which was rejected and shelved by Warner Bros. until the band later released it in a limited edition on the old B.T.Puppy label in 1972.
Though having their roots in Doo-Wopp the Tokens expanded their musical horizons with successful releases spanning four decades including Intercourse in 1968, Cross Country in 1973, Re-Doo-Wopp in 1988 and Esta Noche El Leon Baila in 1996. The Tokens were a family business as Phil and his brother Mitch continued touring through 2017.
