  6. It's full of great characters, like the one-eyed, one-legged, silver-nosed sea captain Sal Winter and the saltpeter man and secret agent Nathaniel Scrope. It's also terrifically narrated by Anneke Wills, who finds the perfect voice for each of the book's many characters, making the whole thing a delight to listen to. Score: 4/5.
