The Almanac singers were an American folk vocal group, active in the early 1940's. Original members included Pete Seeger (who called himself Pete Bowers at the time), Woody Guthrie, Lee Hays and Millard Lampell. During the groups early stages in New York, Burl Ives regularly joined the sessions.
The Almanac Singers est un groupe de musique folk américain basé à New York, actif entre 1940 et 1943, fondé par Millard Lampell (en), Lee Hays, Pete Seeger et Woody Guthrie. Le groupe s'est spécialisé dans les chansons d'actualité, principalement des chansons contestataires prônant une philosophie anti-guerre et isolationiste , antiraciste et pro-syndicale .
