Heavy metal (eller bara metal) är en genre inom rockmusik [1] som utvecklades från slutet av 1960-talet till början av 1970-talet, främst i Storbritannien och USA. [2] Med rötter i bluesrock och psykedelisk rock [ 3 ] utvecklade banden som skapade heavy metal ett tjockt, massivt sound, karaktäriserat av högt förstärkt distorsion , långa gitarrsolon och en generell högljuddhet.
