The Temptations is een Amerikaanse band, met zijn hoogtepunt in de jaren 1960. Samen met The Supremes waren zij de echte hitsellers van Motown. De groep werd gevormd in 1961 in Detroit. Het was een samenstelling van twee plaatselijke groepen uit Detroit, The Primes en The Distants.
