Hace 5 días · I snorkelled Silfra mid April. This was something I wanted to do for a long time and I wasn't disappointed. Our guides Tanya and Richard were top class. They were very knowledgeable and kept things interesting and fun the entire time. I had heard a lot about the cold water (approx. 2 degrees C) but to be honest didn't really think it was bad.

Hace 5 días · The Silfra fissure was very impressive and getting the chance to swim between the tectonic plates was incredible as the water is very clear and clean. I would recommend this to everyone!!! 10 out of 10!!! Read more. Written 20 May 2022.
Hace 4 días · The water was extremely cold, but with the right gear, it's manageable. Still, be mentally prepared for a chilly experience. I opted for a combo package with two dives: one in Silfra between the tectonic plates and another at a different location in the same lake. However, I think just diving in Silfra would have been more than enough.
Hace 2 días · The Silfra Rift This area in Iceland where two tectonic plates are separating is a fun place to scuba dive or snorkel. Depending on the time of year, this water can be very cold.

Hace 1 día · Sure! I’m an avid SCUBA diver, one of my favorite dives was in Iceland at Silfra, and I touched two tectonic plates underwater at the same time! I have a 2 nd degree blackbelt in Shotokan Karate, and have trained in Krav Maga for several years. I co-authored a paper in the field of Artificial Intelligence while in college.
